Reefer space: Launched: Registered: 27th March 1863 Refit: May 1870 poop deck fitted. new tonnage 1,308 gross, 1,049 net. Re-engined: 1872 with 2-cyl. compound engine by Maudslay, Sons & Field, London. Sold: September 1873 to Bailey & Leetham, Hull for their Lisbon company. Re-named September 1873. "BENGUELLA" for Lisbon - South Africa mail service. Re-engined: 1876 with 2-cyl. compound engine by Bailey & Leetham, Hull. speed 12 kts. Sold: 1885 September to Empresa Insulana de Navegacao, Lisbon for Lisbon - Azores - New York service. Re-engined: 1889 145 h.p. triple expansion & Boilers by Earles S.B. & E. Co., Ltd., Hull. Fate: 24th June 1889 sprung a leak (poss. from damage caused by grounding whilst being towed out of New York), engine room flooded. Ship abandoned in Atlantic 40N 49W. All crew & passengers saved by Italian barque MARIANNA, later transferred to Spanish liner ALFONSON XIII &landed at La Coruna.
