July 1895 ran aground off Port Shepstone, slight damage and vessel refloated.  Commodore Bainbridge relieved of command.

1908 carried the first large citrus consignment from South Africa.

1911 Replaced by "Edinburgh Castle" (2) and laid up off Netley in reserve.

1914 Trooping then returned to Cape mail run.

1917 Taken over by Shipping Controller under Liner Requisition Scheme.

1918 Trooping in Mediterranean

1919 One voyage to Australia on P&O charter.  returned to Mail Service.

1923 Transferred to round Africa service.

1925 Replaced by S.S. "Llandovery Castle" and laid up.

1926 Broken up by T.W. Ward, Morecombe.
