Commodore Bainbridge

Commodore Bainbridge was in Command of the R.M.S. "Norman" when she grounded off Port Shepstone in July 1895.  (U-C Line, A Fleet History p58) I am certain every navigator on the South African coast must feel great sympathy for Captain Bainbridge because we all 'sniffed the shore' off Port Shepstone trying to keep out of the Agulhas current which could run at 5 knots.
